Apparently I am allergic to laundry.....

Well Adam and I had a fabulous week in Osoyoos, we are tanned and happy :) We had such a fun time, we jet ski'd, tubed, floated, watched fireworks, got drunk (ok maybe just me not Adam) met lots of wonderful new friends and got to hang out with our BFF's :D We ate junk food, layed in the sun, sat around the fire and relaxed.

We rolled in around 11 pm last night, on the way out of town I stopped and got a big bottle of lotion because my skin was dried out and I felt like I wanted to crawl out of it, Osoyoos is a dry, dry, dry town. Today I woke up covered head to toes in hives....I am apparently allergic to the lotion and I am itching like mad LOL but coincedently I started all my laundry just as the hives started think I can convince Gord I am allergic to laundry?

I really want to get out to my studio and create something but I am missing my back porch stairs and I am feeling so crappy that is actually enough of a hindrance to stop me from going around the front LOL talk about lazy. I might venture out soon I am hoping the Claritin kicks in soon otherwise I might just hole up in my room naked with wine and movies and try not to scratch my skin off.

Anyway we had a blast on vacation and isn't it nice to have a friend who you can spend an entire week with and never get on each others nerves even once? Even our kids got along the whole time I am so glad we all know each other and even better we live four houses apart :D

With all the junk food eating, drinking and lounging I managed to lose another 5 pounds ....I think exercise might just be a crock because I tend to lose more weight when I don't do it. Oh and I wore my bikini's proudly and with out any self conciousness I am so proud of myself :D

Ok Gord is BBQing dinner and it smells good so I am off to eat some steak and potatoes!

rain rain go away

Hello so my GOventuring is on hiatus, I tried yesterday but I was suffering from a bit of a headache and then on the way out to my studio in typical Heather fashion I wiped out. We have some 16x16 pavers that are going in front of the doors to the studio and they are kind of just sitting all willy nilly out there til they go in properly well I was jogging to get out of the rain and I mistepped on one of them twisted my foot and went down hard. The good news is I am ok LOL and this type of thing is a regular occurence for me :D

It was one of those falls where you can feel it happening in slow mo and in your head you have come up with four different courses of action to take before you hit the ground. My first reaction of course was to check to see if anybody saw me fall in which case I would of popped up and done a "TAAA DAAAA!!" but I was the only one stupid enough to be outside inthe pouring rain. Well me and one of the cats who of course had the "stupid human" look of disgust on his face like didn't I know that the pavers were for him to lie on and what was I doing sprawled out on them???? Needless to say I am nursing a bit of a bruise on my foot and a couple scrapes but they are barely noticable because they just blend in with all the other bruises :D

Anyway today I have a bunch of stuff to do, it's the last day of school for Adam he's there til noon so my friend and I are taking the opportunity to hit the mall one last time while we can, then we are going to do the grocery shopping for the camping trip we leave on Saturday.

I have quite a few things to get done one of which is to open up my tent and make sure everything is ship shape but it is pouring rain here again today I may just have to take my chances. I am pretty sure everything is ok but I am a little paranoid since this one time I went camping with my parents and it poured rain and my tent literally collasped in the middle of the night, rivers of water were running through it and I had to use my blankets to build dams aroundthe kids so they didn't get soaked LOL. I on the other hand was a soggy, grumpy, pissed off mess by the time morning rolled around and had to call Gord to go buy a tent and drop it off to us LOL because we still had like 5 days of camping left.

There are sleeping bags to wash, laundry to do, eye brows to shape (yah that is important because when you are camping your eye brows should be nice since nothing else will be), packing, grocery shopping, air mattress testing to see which one will deflate the slowest ....because they always deflate. I have crossed paint toenails and bikini wax from the list because yes the toes and other areas should also look nice :) Was that too much information? I don't think I will ever get used to going in and letting what is basically a total stranger look at my hoo ha but these are the things we do for beauty. She does attempt to make chit chat which is nice I like a little pillow talk before I show my girly parts off. Yesterday she asked if I had kids I contemplated saying no those stretch marks are just because when I hit puberty I shot up three feet in one month. Apparently my little lady area was also glittery LOL I have a new body wash and it has glitter in it, it's nice that she noticed LOL I told her it was special just for her :D

Ok I guess that was enough info for you all, Cameron that was special for you I said I wasn't afraid of talking about my vagina on my blog and now I have....where's my $40,000 in advertising revenue???

GOventure day 3 : POCKET

Good morning I am up early to check the status of beach day for Adam and it looks like we will be skipping it because it is raining.

I was just reading back to my last post before I went MIA and realised I never posted my other marks for school. I ended up With A+ in Issues in Contemporary Art, A in photography (you never know that by my crappy photos of my work!) A in Subversive Art and the previously mentioned A- in Drawing 2. I made the honour roll again and my GPA is 3.94 so I am hoping that will help me out on those scholarship applications.

Since I was up showered and dressed (for no good reason) and it`s totally overcast  I snuck out and took a photo of todays GOventure project. I actually painted it last night because I thought I would be at the beach all day today :)

The prompt was pocket which immediately got me humming that ear worm of a song ``pocket full of sunshine`` which for some reason made me think of this little guy I call him Norm doesn`t he look like a pocket full of sunshine LOL, actually he looks kind of grumpy but cute. It was sprinkling when I took the photo so there are some rain drops on there just ignore them :D

Oie_POCKETGOVENTURE_001

This little painting is done with acrylics and is on a 4x6 flat canvas board.

I forgot to mentionwhat I used on the other projects so here goes:

Zombie for I love you is a 8x8 deep canvas and painted in acrylics

All we need is LOVE is acrylics on three 3x4 deep wood panels.

Ok I am off to plan the day we may sneak to the opening day of Transformers with the kids :)

Don`t forget to check out Kals version of todays GOventure:

Back to our regularily scheduled programming

Howdy! Boy I sort of fell off the blogging wagon for awhile I was just giddy with no school slacking off :) Actually I lie I haven't been slacking off I have literally been working my buns off I am down 39 pounds now:) Yay me. Gord worked it out and I have been walking around 7 miles a day. Right now I am sick so I have not been exercising the past three days and I hate it.

So one of my favourite blogs to visit is Kal Barteskis http://www.lovelife.typepad.com/ not only is she Canadian she is from Manitoba which holds a special place in my heart because I spent the first 6 years of my life there :) Not only that she is an awesome artist and I love her work. I first discovered her when I went to the INSPIRED event in 2008 and she taught a workshop there she has such a positive spirit about creativity I just love it.  Anyway to make a long story short Kal has been doing something called GOventure creative prompts and sharing them with her readers and inviting us to create something using the prompt as inspiration. So I figured I have this new backyard studio and a whole bunch of spare time I should join in :)

Day one's inspiration was GREEN and DIZZY. Now if you know me at all you know I love zombies so that is what came to my mind right away and I settled in to make this silly little painting which cracks me up and makes me smile. I found the saying online somewhere it was a toss up between this and "Zombies love chicks with brains" :) It actually says "Aaarg... that's zombie for I love you" What an awesome way to officially break in the new studio with a zombie painting.

Oie_GOVENTURE_008

Just a silly little painting :) It's fun to paint for fun and not for grades LOL this would never fly at school.

Ok day 2 prompt was NOT MY TYPE. Which for some reason got me thinking about relationships, which made me think about love and I had these three little wood panels sitting around and so I messed around and came up with this....

Oie_GOVENTURE_002

Have I mentioned how much I hate taking photos of my work if you have any tips for me that would be awesome because it never looks right in photos.  I don't know if you can make it out but it says "All we need is love" ala the Beatles.

What else is new? I am registered for next semester for Intro to Sculpture, Advanced Painting (aka Painting 3), Intro to digital media, and Issues in Contemporary art 2. It's going to be a full load again but I am looking forward to it and I am hoping to apply for some scholarships because my tuition is in the $1600 dollar range and that doesn't include the many supplies I need.

In other news school is almost out for the summer for Adam  two more days tomorrow is Beach Day and then half a day Thursday and then on Saturday Adam and I leave for a week vacation with our friends to Osoyoos. I am so frickin excited and so happy they invited us along our vacation prospects are pretty slim this year because of Gords busy work schedule. Josh has opted to stay home he thinks a week away from his mom and brother sounds heavenly, I say poo poo on him :P

Ok I think I have rambled on enough ...oh but wait the most exciting news!!!!! JOSH AND I ARE GOING TO SEE BLINK 182 on July 28th !!!! I am so excited Josh and I like alot of the same music and I introduced him to Blink but by that time they had split up. We got a chance to see Plus 44 in concert which was one of the spin off bands but we are super excited they reunited because we love them and Josh, the drummer of course loves Travis Barker. I can't wait!!!!

Ok now I am done! Tomorrows prompt is POCKET and I  already have mine done but no photo yet I will share tomorrow.

Schools out for summer :D

Wooohooo Tuesday officially marked the last day of school related activities. I had to hand in my last two papers and now I am done. I got to spend a glorious weekend home alone while the kids and Gord went to the in laws for easter I stayed home and wrote papers.

It was awesome except I woke up on day two with a massive ear infection, which is now under control but of course it hit me on Easter weekend when I was home alone I couldn't get into see the doctor until yesterday.I am feeling so much better now that I have a couple doses of antibiotics in me. I tend to get sick at the end of every semester I get so stressed out my body finally relaxes and then it hits me LOL. On the plus side I went to the clinic and it was empty I got in and out in ten minutes!!! that never happens usually it's a minimum 2 hour wait.

I am still at 35 pounds down weight wise and getting really frustrated at my lack of clothing choices because everything I own is too big and sagging on me. Summer is almost here and I was a size 15 last summer now I am an 8 so I am going to have to buy all new summer clothes. I have already purchased a bikini and I have worn it....in the privacy of my backyard hot tub that's probably the only place I will wear it too :D

My first grade has been posted I got an A- in Drawing 2 which I am happy with because I hated 75% of that class it bored the heck out of me. I was thinking I would get a B. I was only 4% away from an A too darn it.

It is really frustrating waiting for marks I just want to know how I did :D

I only have about a month before I go away to North Carolina to Inspired again and I can't wait! I went and applied for my passport and wow was it ever a different situation then the last time I got it. No lines ups, nice workers, I didn't cry and they said it would be here in a couple of weeks. Last time I had to go back two or three times, the lady was so rude and mean to me I cried, and it took months to get the passport.

Now my mom can take me to England with her when she goes :D Right mom??? :D I deserve it I'm a good kid :D

I can almost hear my mom's eyes rolling right now actually.

What else is new .....hmmmm not much I get to spend the next little while getting my house back in order after it being run by boys for four months it isn't looking so great. I can't get motivated to do it though hopefully when my new Ipod arrives I can crank the tunes and get to work.

I just got back from a long walk with Gord and now I am going to have a glass of wine and relax for a bit.

Medium???? really!

Hello again see I can update semi regularily.

So the big news for today is as of yesterday I have officially lost 30 pounds. I just got back from shopping and I tried on a pair of size ten jeans and they fit me perfectly, I didn't buy them because I just bought the same jeans in 12's and I bought three freakin pairs never thinking I was going to go down a size so fast.

Also I was all proud when I went from XL to L shirts, well now my L shirts are hanging off of me and I need mediums!!! I haven't bought a medium shirt since before I had kids 13 years ago! it feels so weird because I don't feel that much smaller I guess deep down I still think of myself as fat. I did break down and buy three shirts I am pretty sure I am never getting to a small in the shirt department but I am holding out to fit into size 8 jeans before I buy anymore. I haven't really been too vigilant on the dieting I just have been making much healthier choices food wise and not snacking or eating any sweet stuff.

So that is my big (medium) news I am heading into extreme stress mode for school only two weeks left and a ton of work to do so I don't imagine I'll have much more time to update.

Have a great two weeks see you on the otherside if I make it.

March 14, 2009

Hello world I am back....

Well not really back but I figured I should check in and let anyone who actually reads this blog know what is going on in my life.

I am in school full time right now taking 3 studio art classes and one academic art class. I have tons of papers to write for this one and one of the studio classes is also half academic so more papers. That is what I will be spending my weekend doing writing at least three papers, maybe four.

What's been going on in the art classes you may ask....I have a tone of projects I need to photograph so I can share with you all. I did a really cool post secret inspired project for my subversive art class that is going to be in or semester end art show, I lucked out because I am taking two third year art classes and the show is for third year students but I get to put my piece in still because I am in the class.

So far this semester I have done two giant drawings and several model sessions in drawing 2, a big painting and the post secret project in Subversive art, two photography assignments plus a handful of papers. I spent over 70 hours at school last week and this week wasn't much better but lets just say my hardwork and dedication has been noticed and commented on so that makes me feel better :D

I am not sure if I am taking a class this next semester it is condensed again and the choices are pretty limited so I thought I might take a bit of time off and work on my photography and painting at home . Not to mention working on organising my household because it's gone to pot around here, the males of my household aren't the best at housework.

Hopefully I will be back to post some photos soon for you all to see.

Kissing my social life good bye!

So week one of school is done and so far I think I can handle it, I dropped sculpture at the last minute so now I am taking Drawing 2, photo 2, Issues in Contemporary art, and subversive art.

Issues is an academic course and it's kind of fun to get back to the book learning but I didn't enjoy paying 145.00 for the text book which is basically a glorified photo copy of a bunch of articles, it's huge but it's just binded photocopies!

One thing I love about being a fine arts student we usually don't have to buy textbooks because there aren't any :D My photography text for first year was only $50 and it's an actual book not a photocopy!

I am super excited to get back to school I just love getting to think creatively and I get giddy with excitement at the thought of writing papers is that nerdy or what :)

I spent yesterday in downtown Vancouver at the art gallery checking out WACK the exhibit of feminist art it was pretty cool and a nice way to spend an afternoon alone I kind of enjoyed wandering around. As an added bonus I got to check out the upstairs exhibit of Jeff Wall a photographer from Vancouver that we have discussed in photo class too.

I took a few photos while I was down there too trying to finish a roll so I can get in the darkroom on Wednesday before class. I love the dark room!

Not much else is new I was able to change drum lesson to Fridays so I can keep going to those which is awesome although I am pretty sure I am the slowest learning drummer on earth LOL. I guess it doesn't help that Josh is a bit of a drumming natural and it comes easy to him, never have I felt so white and nerdy as I do when I can't find the beat :D it sucks!

So school is four days a week and I am sure I will be at school most saturdays which means I am saying good bye to my social life....not that I had much of one before but if you don't hear from me and you are expecting to this is why!

Countdown to chaos....

So yesterday marked the first day of me going back to school. I had drawing class and I am super excited to get back into it. The class looks like it will be really greatand the projects look cool too and manageable unlike painting I can bring drawing home. So different from the first drawing this time we can use colour and our imagination not just draw what we see.

I am taking five classes this semester I officially registered for the last two yesterday after humming and hawing about it I decided to just do it. So in the next three months I am sure I wont have time to do anything but art and school work. It will be fun though.

Adam went to the doctors yesterday and all of his tests were normal so nothing majorly wrong but he did say he thinks Adam is getting migraine headaches which I kind of suspected too but not alot we can do for him other then give him a quiet dark room to lay in and some tylenol. I think alot of it has to do with his bad sleeping habits he just is impossible to get to go to sleep last night he crashed hard at 9:00pm which is unusual for him but I think the early mornings for school caught up to him. He had a complete meltdown about going to the doctors. He is so mortally afraid of the doctors it's not easy and yet I don't feel right spring it on him in a "let's go for a drive....SURPRISE it's the doctors." kind of way.

What else is new... oh I am down 4.5 pounds already this week LOL I think it's probably 4.5 pounds of turkey dinner and christmas goodies melting off.

Today I am going to do some brainstorming on my first drawing project then I have photography class tonight at 4 can't wait!

January 05, 2009

Can you hear the angels singing???

Christmas break is over aaaaahhhhhhhhh !!! Both kids are back in school today woohoo. I was a little worried when my alarm went off this morning because I have it set to the radio and the only line I heard was "busses had to stop running last night." before I shut it off. So I got up and checked the school district website and sure enough two school were closed today but not my kids schools :D

I finally got MOTIVATED and cleaned up my workspace last night and decided to gesso some canvas for a swap I am working on and while I had my paints out and a pre gesso'd 8x10 panel I decided to paint my word of the year "MOTIVATION" I had a good time and this turquoise, yellow, white, red colour combo seems to be a favourite of mine lately and I seem to be into dots and circles too, something about the circle just seems to go with the word of the year idea.

Oie_motivation_003

I am off to drink more coffee and maybe paint some more tomorrow is my first day back at school and I start fist thing with drawing 2 :D

Oh in other news the sleep lab finally called and I am picking up my little tester machine on Thursday to get tested for the sleep problems which is good....it has taken forever, of course the lady said she can't get me an appointment to discuss the results until February.
